Shannon River Keepers

On a mission to restore the River Shannon through practical action, education, a Rights of Nature approach, cultural renewal, and the revival of a sacred relationship with her.

About Us

Shannon River Keepers
is an interdisciplinary alliance bringing together ecological practitioners, artists, legal thinkers, educators, community organisers, scientists, cultural workers and local custodians to support the health and vitality of the River Shannon from source to sea.  Rather than creating another organisation working in isolation, our ambition is to become a central hub that connects, amplifies and supports the people and groups already caring for the Shannon. By weaving together existing initiatives across the catchment, we hope to build a stronger, more visible and resilient movement for the river's future.

Our Work

Our work draws inspiration from the emerging international movements around Rights of Nature, bioregional thinking and regenerative governance, while remaining deeply rooted in the traditions and landscapes of Ireland. Ancient Irish culture understood rivers as places of wisdom, healing and kinship. Wells, springs and crossings were sacred sites where human life met the more-than-human world. We believe these traditions can inform contemporary ecological practice, inviting renewed relationships of responsibility rather than extraction. The future of the Shannon depends not only on technical solutions, but on cultural transformation: learning once again to belong to the places that sustain us.

Who We Are

We're not here to follow trends—we're here to build something timeless. With a blend of creativity, strategy, and heart, we help ideas come to life. Every project we take on is an opportunity to learn, grow, and do something meaningful. We treat our clients like partners and our work like craft.

Let’s create something meaningful together.
